Chiropractic is the number one proven treatment for neck and back pain over drugs, surgery, massage, acupuncture and physical therapy. The spine is a complex structure that involves muscles, ligaments, bones, joints, discs, and nerves. Issues of neck and back pain can vary dramatically and may involve a simple strain/sprain which is a problem with the muscles and ligaments, a herniated disc, arthritic changes around the bones, joint dysfunction, or pressure on the nerves in your spine. During your initial exam Dr. Toth will do a complete orthopedic, neurological and spinal assessment to determine what is causing your back or neck pain.
Arthritis and Degeneration
When a spinal misalignment has been present long enough in the body then those altered biomechanics create an environment prone to arthritis and degeneration. Joint are meant to move, and move properly. As time passes and we neglect the alignment of our spine by not seeing a chiropractor then inevitably calcium builds up around joint, the cartilage starts to disappear, overall curvature begins to deteriorate and we are left with a substantial amount of pressure on our spinal nerves. This compromises our overall health and makes it difficult to enjoy our body as we get older.
Sciatica is a pain down one or both legs resulting from pressure on the sciatic nerve in the low back and pelvic area. After a thorough orthopedic, neurological and spinal assessment Dr. Toth will determine the cause of the sciatic pain in your body. Other problems like, weakness, cramping, numbness and tingling can come from pressure on the sciatic nerve. Spinal adjustments to remove the pressure on the sciatic nerve is the best form of treatment for these symptoms.

Dr. Toth has done extensive training in the special adjustment of the wrists elbows, shoulders, ankles, knees, hips and rib cage. Often time issues with the arms, hands, legs, and feet come from an issue in the spine so we always look there first. However, when the peripheral joints are out of alignment then Dr. Toth can do an adjustment to correct that specific problem and restore proper function. Conditions that respond well to adjustment in the extremities include but are not limited to carpal tunnel syndrome, golfers elbow, tennis elbow, tendonitis in the shoulder and achilles tendon.
There are two types of vertigo that our office specializes in treating. One kind is called BPPV or benign paroxysmal positional vertigo and is the result of small grains of calcium sitting in the inner ear that overstimulate the sensors located there. This is most commonly experienced when the head is turned in a certain direction. By gently moving the head through a specific set of positions we can reset the position of those calcium grains so they no longer stimulate the inner ear. This is a fairly short and simple procedure. The other kind of vertigo is called cervicogenic vertigo and results from misalignments in the neck that send the wrong messages to the brain about its position in space. Adjustments that correct those misalignments in the neck can have a profound influence on correcting this improper feedback to the brain and effectively treat this form of vertigo.
Its very important to immediately seek chiropractic care after a car accident. The kind of forces and the type of damage that can be sustained by a whiplash injury are difficult to gauge during the initial days and weeks following an accident. It is best to consult with us regarding the condition of your spine as soon as possible.
There are two ways to handle the billing of your chiropractic care after an accident. The first way is to utilize the benefit on your insurance policy called “Medical Expenses” or “Med Pay.” This is a benefit that you may or may not have on your particular policy, but if you have it then it is always the easiest way to handle the case. This is because all we have to do is bill your insurance company and they in turn seek reimbursement from the insurance company of the person who hit you. You will not have to pay for any of your chiropractic care and the case is closed. However, if you have no med pay then our office is willing to take your case on a lein. This means that we will work with an attorney who will represent you and seek a settlement from the other insurance company and you will not have to pay for any of your chiropractic care here either. We have a lot of experience making the proper diagnosis and working closely with the attorney’s and insurance companies.
Disc herniations are best described as bulges of disc material putting pressure on the nerve elements around the spine. This results in symptoms of local pain, radiating pain, weakness, muscle tightness, tingling, and numbness that can travel down the legs or down the arms. Adjustments cannot fix a disc herniation, however adjustments will release misalignments and increase mobility so the body can adapt around the herniation. Pain and inflammation around the herniation can be effectively managed with chiropractic care and many patients find it to be the best choice before drugs or surgery.
Headaches are the result of several possible factors. Things that can be addressed with chiropractic care are improper blood circulation to the head and brain, improper neurological feedback from the joints of the neck to the head and brain, and pain and tension in the neck that radiates up from the neck. Through the specific application of an adjustment to certain areas of misalignment in the neck, headaches often come less frequently or cease altogether.
